around lake Natron and volcano Lengai

 

the last evening in Natron area, the next morning would bring us in some waterfalls nearby, another amazing place.

 

in the meantime, the evening lights were soft and we drove towards Lengai, following the path were the jeeps are to be left before climbing the volcano by foot.

 

a dry lava bed, eroded by water.

 

either some left over rocks which had been expelled during the last eruption or broken lava crust.

 

the top of the volcano. The smooth brown layer on the very top is the new crater. The top used to be along the rough edge.

 

details of the volcano slopes. It’s not always to climb that stuff, believe me. That’s why a guide is always welcome to meander through. And even more since the last eruption: the slopes have been heavily modified.
