late afternoon reaching Kingman. Route 66 has some great scenery on many stretches but the historic part of it is sometime overdone, kitsch, overtly directed at tourism without common sense…
long trains, hundreds of wagons at a time.
view from our room in Kingman. Luckily the sunset light helps a lot.
going for dinner. Kingman seems to be only a long bit of road crossing shops and restaurants and fuel stations. Like dozens of thousand places in the US. And the trend starts in Europe of course.
some tourists on Harley Davidson bikes. The granny on the foreground looks a bit out of her league…
I suppose she'll disguise herself with a Hell's Angels outfit later on.
rental bikes or not, here they are on the move…
…followed by a broom wagon!! I had noticed the car was full of tools and suitcases. How sad and pitiful is that. So much for the big adventurous road trip….
the morning view for the hotel, not so glamorous as the sunset view. But Karine made a point to stay in some splendid palaces too.
Ya, I've heard really amazing things about that area. Sounds fun

as I only drove on the Arizona part this time, I really remember and favor Oatman area and hills.

Really cool photos Ben. What did you find was the most picturesque part of Route 66?
