on lake Tanganyika to be precise, western Tanzania. Some B/W pictures from 2002 while cycling between Arusha and Cape Town, obviously not in straight line. We went left and right, took 2 ferries, 2 trains….
my lovely Nikon FM2 and a 24mm lens never failed me under the sometimes hard road or track conditions of that 7 month trip
people boarding the ferry, always chaotic.
awfully smelly daga drying under the harsch African sun. It’s a staple food, highly prized for proteins. It resembles sardines. That’s quite unimaginable in our western cultures to pay for a 1st class ticket, to enjoy a nice view on a near empty deck and then you’ve got people spreading the crap on your feet to the point you can hardly walk across…well, it gives stories and we’re only guests…
Impatient people who can’t wait to go through the dedicated access doors.
It was amazing to count how many boats could come to board the Liemba at every stop nearby fishermen villages. There had been dozens of those stops including at night.
