Pininyi, one airstrip on the western shoreline of lake Natron.
I had to fly that way so I decided to wait a bit.
we, at Flying Medical Service, have a hard time to convince villagers to maintain their airstrips. High grass will be pulverized by the propeller, will give a nice green hue to everything and the bits will stick to the airplane. And it is a mess to clean.
Olorbelin, one the few airstrip FMS uses on lake Natron.
Engoveroni, a special airstrip, sloped and slanted.
That new aeroplane had just been ferried from the USA and its extra 500 lt fuel tank was being removed, the seats were installed again.
Formation flight, quite loose here because I’m taking the picture, muuuch closer a few seconds later.
What to do when the ignition switch dies? With a bit of luck you’ve got an enthusiast engineer around, Ludwig, who will be more than happy to roam the hospital for a spare one. In this case an X ray machine switch which had matching specifications. Then with some wires and bandage tape, you’ve got a real bush fixture. Electrical wires taped outside the airplane to the battery looked shoddy but this was a real good job.
