that beast weighs about 600 lbs, a bit less than 300 kg for normal people. Continental definitely produces strong engine. After a close inspection past the baffles and exhaust pipes etc we noticed the block was not damaged well apparently, the oil cooler (here in foreground) was intact too. Just a few fins on a cylinder head were slightly crushed, not a big deal. So the factory might give us a good price hopefully, 14.000$ would be perfect.
Salvador Dali would have loved this propeller.
2 planks, a rope and 6 guys…still a challenge to move it across the slope and the bloody grass and stumps.
that’s where the crushed belly pod (optional and in fiberglass) came handy. Notice how the red paint got scraped a bit.
Jacek brought the Cruiser as high as he could up the hill.
let’s flip the pod over, one two three and hop.
One elevator and the trim tab have been removed (the gaps on the tail) and the rudder will come off soon. Yes the rudder, the plane flipped over, a 30 m jump, and the bloody thing is intact!! The vertical fin took all the impact.
Stopping the load from sliding down was easier than carrying it.
luckily we didn’t forget that winch.
my little contribution on this task was to come with the sledge idea and take pictures. The 6 guys had it well under control anyway.
