sketching in the Tanzanian bush

 

not great art I know but what a privilege to have time to sketch in that most beautiful bush…

 

 

 

I admit I have my cartoony moments. Well I’m Belgian after all…

lately I got myself supersized with a large Moleskine sketch book. A bit bulky at about 30x40cm but much more comfortable to draw on. Those below were done while sitting under the aircraft wing or against a tree while on duty with Flying Medical Service airplane.

while out flying with Flying Medical Service or else in the past I always carry a sketch book and a pouch with a drawing kit. whatever the results, I find it very rewarding to enjoy such a luxury. Out there in the bush, sitting under a tree or under the aircraft wing and peel my eye open…

good exercise to say the least, people don’t stay in place and don’t pose. Here the doctor at work with Maasai women.

 

lots of people sit around. Time to catch up and share news. Every 2 weeks or more, there is no doubt much gossiping goes around.
