A lone fisherman on Pemba island reef, my favorite spot in this part of the ocean.

Bwejuu island, off Mafia island. the mud from the Rufiji river mixes with various plankton over changing water depth to explain these colours and texture changes I was told.

Good evening everybody...I am tentatively back on this blog. It used to offer a good service... let's try again.

Here is a sample of what the magnificent reef around Pemba island, Tanzania, has to offer within 5 minutes of overflying. The pictures are shuffled, sorry, it is beyond my nerdy capacities to sort them out so far. You see, "They" managed to break a winning team...

I used a Go Pro mounted outside the aircraft, on the stabilizer. The camera is beautifully built...spoilt by the programmers. My 2 colleagues and I are still battling with the Bluetooth and WiFi. OK, I'm a dinosaur with new technologies, I'm never the first one to buy any A model of anything but these two are...

 

 

 

I wonder if the sailor realizes the beauty he is sitting on...

Bush fires spread slowly and rarely kill trees. That black surface will turn green at the first drops of rain.

Footprints on a salt lake bed, lake Balangida. Of humans, cows and goats I presume.

 

Hippos are having a hard time in the Katavi. They squeeze in the last remnants of muddy pools.

 

Last week a massive bush fire started on Katasunga plain, Katavi park. 80% of that vast plain was black at the time of the picture. The rangers were clueless or lying about the origin of the fire.

 

Mahale, lake Tanganyika, life on the beach. I guess the fishermen have laid out that massive net for fixing the damages.
